How about something more family and health oriented? An additional pool in Jim Barnett Park..Ice Skating/hockeyleisure skate around Familyland...Put a soccer field in the park in place of the Discovery Museum...We do not need an arena...people are not going to come from over the mountain for this...Too many other venues close by .
An arena is a good idea. It promotes growth. In these times of economic uncertainty, anything promoting growth is good. Build it and WE will come. And also, don't sell the discovery museum short. We must exercise our minds as well as our bodies.

Don't believe anyone is looking to draw people from over the mountain.
If anything, this arena would draw people from the Shenandoah Valley Regional Area and the Tri-State Region.

I would love to see a skating/hockey facility in Winchester also. More people than you know are traveling to Hagerstown and Ashburn for ice sports.
Cumberland had a ice skating and hockey facility at the YMCA and they had to close it for lack of business. -----anonymous
